Jamie Sullivan, formerly Hinson, has been training in the Maryland area since 2000.

Originally from Long Island, NY, Jamie moved to Maryland to study at the Univ. Of Maryland, College Park. There she received a B.S. in Animal Management/Industry. After several years working for both the Federal Government and D.C. Government in Viral Surveillance and Control (mainly West Nile Virus), she received her Masters in Biodefense at George Mason University in VA studying under the internationally reknowned Dr. Ken Alibek, a former Soviet Union Colonel who was 1st Deputy Chief of the secret Soviet Germ Warfare Program, Biopreparat, and later defected to the US in 1992.

Rather than pursuing this career, Jamie, along with her husband, Kevin, decided to follow her love of horses and continue her training and coaching. They founded Snapdragon Stables in 2005.

Jamie competed as a junior on Long Island with her Eq/Jumper "Blue And Bold".  She later rode for the Univ. of Maryland.  After many accomplishments in the IHSA (Intercollegiate Horse Show Association) for the University of Maryland Equestrian Team, she began coaching at both Local and Rated Shows in Zone 3. She has coached numerous NCEL (National Capital Equitation League) A-Teams to much success. Jamie was named Coach Of The Year in 2003 and 2004.  Modeled after IHSA, this league allows riders of various ages, typically 13-18, to compete on borrowed horses over 2'6" with very little warm-up. With a similar format, Jamie coached the Archbishop Spalding Varsity High School team as well. Jamie believes that the skills acquired under this format are invaluable.  She has incorporated these fundamentals into her current teaching program.

In July 2007, Brooke Margaret Sullivan was born and has become a very integral part of the show team. She attends lots of lessons, helps feed the horses and hasn't missed too many shows either. She's waiting for her chance at Leadline on her pony, "WonTon Foohey". Would you believe that "horse" was one of her first words?

Her sister, Hadley Jane was born in February 2010 and is waiting for her chance to ride as well.

Annually, riders and horses from Snapdragon Stables qualify for the Zone 3 Adult Amateur and Large Children's Pony Hunter Finals, MHSA Adult Medal, MHSA Hunt Seat on Ponies and MHSA Thoroughbred Hunter Classic.  Hunter breeding has been the focus of 2010 with our home-bred RPSI filly, Sanibel. With top ribbons at Devon, she's aiming to finish in the top 3 for Zone 3 and Reserve Champion of MHSA.

We expanded our program to include breeding with the purchase of Chips Of Clay. She foaled Sanibel in 2009 and is in foal to Apiro for a March 2011 foal.
